El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional de Estados Unidos emitió este miércoles en la noche un aviso de inundaciones repentinas y tormentas severas en el sur de Florida.
«Se espera que continúen las inundaciones repentinas significativas en el área de Fort Lauderdale y sus alrededores, ya que se esperan de 2 a 5 pulgadas adicionales de lluvia en las próximas horas», indicó a través de Twitter.
Hasta las 2:00 a.m, permaneció vigente un aviso de inundación repentina para Fort Lauderdale, Sunrise y Lauderhill.
Las lluvias dejaron acumulaciones de agua en importantes zonas como Davie, Opa-locka, La Pequeña Habana, North Miami, Coconut Creek, Hialeah, Edgewater, Brickell, y Hallandale Beach, publicó Telemundo51.
En solo seis horas cayeron más de 20″ de lluvia, según el Servicio Meteorológico de Miami, justo al este del aeropuerto de Ft. Lauderdale.
Los bomberos de Fort Lauderdale afirmaron que la ciudad experimentó graves inundaciones en varias áreas, por lo que instaron a los residentes a mantenerse alejados de las carreteras.
